NEEDING HELP: HORSE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION OF FLORIDA

hpaf.org

We need your help! HPAF receives no state or federal funding and exists only through donations. The amount of neglected horses and horses whose owners can no longer afford to feed them has exploded recently and your donations make it possible for HPAF to continue the work of protecting and saving horses.

No donation is too small. Please help us help the horses.  hpaf.org

http://www.ocala.com/article/20101001/ARTICLES/101009971/1402/NEWS?Title=Horse-rescue-agency-gets-unusual-call-about-Flemington-farm&tc=ar

Emergency Adoption Thoroughbreds, Dogs and Cats need immediate homes.

Please see the new rescues page for photos of the animals needing homes. http://www.hpaf.org/new-rescues.html

The animals are being shown to prospective adopters daily, please call or email for the times. Please bring pictures of where the horse, dog or cat will be living so that we can do a home visit via pictures. There is an adoption application for the horses, we can email one to you or give you one when you visit the horses. Email msilver@wildblue.net Emergency adoption horses go with ownership and no restrictions.

The poor dogs miss their owner and they were a little concerned about all of the people coming and going on their property the first day but they are now getting used to the all of the new people. These dogs are accustomed to being in the house and out around the farm and the horses, all are well behaved.

Thank you to The Ocala Star Banner, reporter Carlos E. Medina and photographer Bruce Ackerman assistant editor Susan Smiley-Height for getting the story about these animals out in the newspaper and online at www.ocala.com which will increase their chances of finding loving homes. Please email if you would like to receive an email with information and photos of the animals that you can forward to a friend.

Volunteers needed at the Micanopy Farm.
Volunteers are needed to help with feeding, grooming and turning out the horses each morning (7 days a week) from 8am to noon. Also for afternoon feeding from 4pm to 6:30 pm. Please call Julie at the office to be put on the schedule.

The web site is current!   hpaf.org
Please check the horses for adoption pages as many new horses have been added. There are no adoption fees except where noted by the horses listing. Yes we need your donations, HPAF exists only because of the wonderful, caring people who contribute and allow us to help horses in need. But adoptive homes are needed for the horses currently at the farm so we can help more horses.

Privately owned horses needing homes
There are so many privately owned horses desperately needing immediate homes that is has been very difficult to keep up with them. We are listing the privately owned horses on www.extendedpaws.com. Please go to the site to view those horses. The owners of these horses have asked HPAF for help in screening potential adopters. If you are interested in one of the privately owned horses please email us your adoption application and pictures of your place or where the horse will live. Once we receive your application we will put you in contact with the owner of the horse.

If you would like to provide feed or hay for the horses , orchard & alfalfa hay, both regular and pasture bales, from Larsen Farms (352-732-4445) or Quality Hay (352-529-0888) in Williston are used to provide high quality free choice hay. We use 14 bags of Purina Ultium Growth , 6 bags of Purina Enrich 12 (not 32 anymore) , 20 bags of Purina Equine Senior and 3 containers of Purina 12:12 Free Balance (loose) per week. Chiefland Farm Supply is our Purina dealer (352-493-4294). Also used are 35 bags of Stampede Brand Timothy and Alfalfa cubes and 3 bags of Equi-Jewel Rice Bran Pellets per week.

Springtime Joint Health, Cetyl M, Finish line U-7 or Gastrix, Redmond Salt (Green & Growing), Bute powder and MSM are used for a number of the horses.

There has been so much paperwork involved in these cases and on adoptions that we have a great need for printer ink, Brother LC61BK, and stamps.
